Bucharest Doctor’s Orchestra: the healing power of good music

 

 

On May 6, 2017, The Romanian Athenaeum hosted a wonderful concert on the occasion of the 24^th Annual Meeting of the European Surgical Association. The distinguished audience warmly applauded the extraordinary performances of the Bucharest Doctor’s Orchestra “Dr. Ermil Nichifor” (Concert Maestro Mircea Penescu) and of the reputed violinist Alexandru Tomescu (playing one of the few still functioning Stradivarius violins), reconfirming within their inspiring conveyed artistic message well-known quotes such as: “Music is the literature of the heart…” (Alphonse de Lamartine); “Music is an agreeable harmony for the honor of God and the permissible delights of the soul” (Johann Sebastian Bach); “The artist reveals to mankind the way to harmony, which is happiness and peace” (George Enescu).
