“Health Care, Inclusive of Mental Health Care, Is a Human Right”: New confirmation of Professor Eliot Sorel’s prodigious activity

The distinguished Professor Eliot Sorel, MD, DLFAPA, Senior Scholar Healthcare Innovation & Policy Research, George Washington University (GWU) School of Medicine & School of Public Health, Founder Conflict Management Section WPA, sent us greetings from Montreal where he recently presented the lecture “Translating Scientific Evidence into Global Health Policy,” also informing us about the initiative entitled “Health Care, Including Mental Health Care, Is Human Right” that was recently adopted (December 10, 2017) by the Board of Trustees of the prestigious American Psychiatric Association (APA).

The full text of this initiative is below. As shown recently by Mark Moran (Published online: January 16, 2018; see link below): “In an interview after the meeting, the lead author of the paper, Eliot Sorel, M.D., noted that the AMA’s Principles of Medical Ethics state that physicians have a responsibility to seek changes in the health care system that benefit patients and to work for the betterment of the community and public health… Sorel said prevention, early intervention, and integration of primary care and mental health care are essential.”
