Interview with Professor Eliot Sorel three days before the US 2016 Presidential election
US 2016 Presidential election – the most significant election anywhere in today’s world – has been held on November 8, 2016.
On November 5, 2016 Professor Eliot Sorel gave an interview to Romania TV. Professor’s reflections before the Election Day focused on the substance: we are leaving extraordinary transformations and we need the right talent for the right projects. And beyond a diplomatic assessment (unpredictability, tight race with photo finish), Professor Eliot Sorel correctly suggested the winner by underlining what is authentic for a robust electoral block – the continuing in existence of the working man.
Within that given context Eliot Sorel highlighted that Donald Trump correctly noticed that tens of millions of people need help to find their way in the New Economy.
As an editor of the book “The Marshall Plan: Lessons Learned for the 21st Century” (for capacity building, human and sustainable development, and the role of public, private partnerships in emerging market economies and democratic societies) – published by OECD, in Paris, France, 2008 (the 60th anniversary monograph; the Marshall Plan 60th Anniversary Symposium took place on 13 June 2007) – Professor Eliot Sorel reminded us of (at the end of this challenging interview) the real need of revisiting the way in which the “The Marshall Plan” was made.

It is also worth remembering that the distinguished Professor Eliot Sorel, the Honorary President of SANABUNA International Congress, is a reputed catalyzer in promoting Romania’s culture in the United States of America (the Romanian monasteries, food, crafts, music and dance) who:
- initiated and led the so-called „Opening the Gates to Romania” project at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, in 1999. On that occasion, a wooden Maramures church was also build piece by piece on the National Mall in the center of Washington as part of the year 1999’s Festival. The world’s largest museum and research complex, the Smithsonian (founded in 1846), is a true steward and ambassador of cultural connections, its generous work wisely promoting understanding of world cultures;
- moderated the event “Between Byzantium and Brussels: The Politics of Orthodox Churches in the European Union”, organized on April 9, 2015 by The Elliott School of International Affairs, The George Washington University, Washington, DC.
